In today's TPOM, we will examine another example of greed found within world history. As we take apart various aspects of this example, we will turn our critical observations toward causal mechanisms and generate some hypotheticals that will help us with immersion. This all relates to blame, scapegoating, and the refusal of ownership, so be on the lookout for those connections.

Martin Shkreli

Mr. Shkreli has been selected for our study for a good reason. The types of greed he exhibited were vicious, cruel, and maniacal. He is a modern-day example of greed and, as such, will offer us fascinating insights into just how greed can gain further facility through advanced technology and manipulation of the modern legal system. It is easy at first glance to think of Martin's actions as being that of a purely money-motivated individual; as we shall soon see, I beg to differ with those who stop their analysis of Mr. Shkreli at mere monetary greed.

A Little History

"Martin Shkreli (born March 17, 1983) is an American former hedge fund manager and convicted felon. Shkreli is the co-founder of the hedge funds Elea Capital, MSMB Capital Management, and MSMB Healthcare; the co-founder and former chief executive officer (CEO) of the pharmaceutical firms Retrophin and Turing Pharmaceuticals (now Vyera Pharmaceuticals); and the former CEO of start-up software company Gödel Systems, which he founded in August 2016."
