Quitting
Have you ever noticed that you will find something that interests you, but you will only go so far with it and not much further no matter what? It could be something that you find fascinating, and, in fact, you still find it fascinating, but you will not actively pursue learning that thing past the initial phase of excitement. This is an experience almost everyone can identify with, and many people see it as a detriment to their development.
Sets or Groups
In some groups, it is viewed as a character flaw. Others who experience this see it as something they wish they could spend their time on; however, it is just not feasible for this group as they feel that they simply do not have the time. Still, another group knows they have the time, but they secretly believe that though they love the topic, they will never go far in their studies and that they are too hard anyway. They, of course, will be proven right over time as theirs, in most cases, becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. We could discuss many more groups in this essay, but for now, I want to focus your attention on one more: the group that loves intensely but will not continue forward because they secretly believe they will fail no matter how hard they try. This group self-discourages themselves until they become bystanders to their own lives.
